Does your black licorice contain, Glycyrrhizin, which is found in the licorice root extract. Several health alerts have come out recently which warn of this compound since it can cause "heart arrhythmias"..My husband loves Panda licorice and eats it daily, however we are concerned since he heart problems.
Response: Licorice extract naturally contains an active substance, glycyrrhizinic acid. It is known that it may give rise to hypertension.
People suffering hypertension should avoid excessive consumption. In general, the rule of thumb is to enjoy food in moderation. This same applies also for licorice. We hope you continue to enjoy Panda Licorice -

Great products. Can you please tell me if the 'soft and fresh licorice' which is made in Finland is kosher? There are no markings on the packet
Response: The USA range of Panda Products does not include the red bagged “Soft and Fresh Licorice” product and therefore we would not be able to comment on it. All US Panda products are certified Kosher. -

My wife and I absolutely adore Panda licorice products. So far we only find them at CVS Pharmacies in extremely limited supplies but the prices are very good. It is a healthy, delicious product for Type 2 diabetics.
